Why it matters: The rapid adoption of AI has led to a memory chip shortage, enabling Micron and its competitors to increase prices.

Micron is the only US producer of high-bandwidth memory chips and has experienced strong demand that far outstrips its production capabilities. This shortage has encouraged large clients to fund expansions in its manufacturing capacity.

The company's operating cash flow significantly increased to $25.39 billion from $11.90 billion in the prior quarter and $4.61 billion a year ago.
